Peking University, November 18, 2025: Pascal Lamy, former Director-General of the World Trade Organization and Vice President of the Paris Peace Forum, visited Peking University (PKU) and attended the Beijing Forum 2025, lending support to a global platform that aims to tackle challenges facing all of mankind.

Warmly receiving Mr. Lamy at the Yingjie Overseas Exchange Center, Jiang Huohua, Vice Chair of PKU Council, extolled his role as a key member of the Beijing Forum’s Senior Advisory Council and his advocacy for a rule-based multilateral system.
Jiang expressed hope that Mr. Lamy would continue to support the Beijing Forum as well as PKU’s efforts in education and global engagement.
Thanking PKU for the gracious invitation, Mr. Lamy spoke highly of the Beijing Forum 2025’s focus on digital intelligence and civilizational coexistence, underscoring the timeliness of the topic amidst today’s shared global challenges. He also voiced strong support for PKU’s vision of cultivating professionals in global governance and reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening collaboration.
Following the meeting, Mr. Lamy delivered a keynote speech at the closing ceremony of the Beijing Forum 2025, where he analyzed a “new normal” in today’s global trade system.
