Peking University, March 30, 2026: Duncan Ivison, President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Manchester, led a delegation to Peking University (PKU) on March 16, as part of an effort to boost cooperation between the two institutions. They were received at Linhuxuan by Gong Qihuang, President of PKU, and Fang Fang, Vice President of PKU.
Gong welcomed the delegation and highlighted the positive momentum of China-UK relations, which has created favorable conditions for deeper university collaboration. He noted that both universities have made steady progress in joint doctoral programs, research, and academic exchanges, and expressed hope for further cooperation in sustainable development and digital education.
Ivison thanked Peking University for its commitment to the partnership. He emphasized that leading universities bear the responsibility of advancing knowledge and serving society, and reaffirmed his commitment to deepening collaboration in talent cultivation, research innovation, and addressing global challenges.
Tracing its origins to 1824 in Manchester, UK, the University of Manchester is a public research university and a member of the prestigious Russell Group. It has a longstanding partnership with Peking University Sixth Hospital in neuroscience research and treatment for neurological disorders.
