Peking University, April 16, 2026: On April 12, Stephen McArthur, Principal and Vice Chancellor of the University of Strathclyde, led a delegation to visit Peking University. Peking University President Gong Qihuang received the delegation at Linhuxuan, with Vice President Fang Fang also in attendance.
President Gong welcomed the delegation and highlighted steady progress in China–UK exchanges in education, science, technology, and the humanities, which have provided more opportunities for deeper collaboration at the university level. He noted the advancements in cooperation between both institutions in engineering, technology, and talent development, and expressed hopes to expand the partnership to areas such as sustainable development, energy transition, and advanced manufacturing.
In his reply, Professor McArthur shared updates on the University of Strathclyde's recent developments, and hoped to strengthen the relationship between the two universities. He was keen to promote joint progress on addressing global challenges including low carbon development, climate governance, global health, and artificial intelligence.
This visit further strengthened the enduring partnership between the two universities and highlighted their shared commitment to global academic collaboration.
