Peking University, April 24, 2026: Michael Hoch and Birgit Münch, Rector and Vice Rector of the University of Bonn, Germany, led a delegation to Peking University (PKU) on April 20 for a visit that saw the renewal of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two universities.
Receiving the guests at Linhuxuan, Gong Qihuang, President of PKU, extended a warm welcome and reviewed the cooperation between the two universities in physics, medicine, biology, history, literature, etc., since 2017. He expressed hope for the successful hosting of the China-Germany University Presidents’ Dialogue in Bonn next year, which would further deepen research and education cooperation between China and Germany.
In response, Hoch thanked PKU for its warm hospitality and spoke highly of PKU’s academic strength and global engagement. He then introduced the University of Bonn’s academic structure and latest developments, affirming its high regard for partnership with PKU and its readiness to expand multidisciplinary research cooperation and student exchange.
After the reception, the two university leaders renewed their MoU, which was first signed in 2017. Fang Fang, Vice President of PKU, was also present at the event.
During the visit, the delegation also toured the School of Life Sciences and talked with faculty and students at the German Studies Center of Peking University.
