Peking University, Mar. 8, 2012: On March 4, Peking University (PKU) Council Chairman Zhu Shanlu met Alex and Shirley Aidekman Family Endowed Chair Professor Li Chenjian from New York University (NYU) School of Medicine. PKU Executive Vice President Wu Zhipan and other staffs from relavant functional departments were also present.
Chairman Zhu welcomed the arrival of Professor Li, and introduced to him the achievements PKU has made towards building a world first-class university. They exchanged ideas concerning intellectual gain, schooling methods and environmental construction. Professor Zhu pointed out that PKU is at a cross road of development. To make breakthroughs in respects of talent team building and subject construction, PKU would focus on management mechanism, service facilities and policy environment. According to him, PKU highly values proposals from experts and scholars on the reform and development of the university, and will spare no effort to establish a supportive working environment.
Professor Li expressed his gratitude for the regards of the university leaders, as well as his deep affection for PKU and China. He emphasized the overall cultivation of the students, and raised suggestions on elevating PKU education to meet a higher international standard.
