Georgian Minister of Education, Science and Youth Givi Mikanadze Visits Peking University

Peking University, June 9, 2026: On June 5, Givi Mikanadze, Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia, led a delegation to Peking University (PKU). They were received at Linhuxuan by He Guangcai, chair of PKU Council, and Ning Qi, vice president of PKU.

Welcoming the delegation, He Guangcai highlighted the longstanding friendship between China and Georgia, pointing to the Belt and Road Initiative as a platform that has deepened cooperation between the two countries in science, technology, and education. Looking ahead, he expressed hope that the visit would pave the way for future cooperation between PKU and Georgian higher education institutions, in areas such as student exchanges, joint research programs and academic seminars.

Mikanadze thanked PKU for its warm reception and introduced Georgia’s recent developments in science, technology and education. He reiterated Georgia’s strong commitment to higher education exchanges with China and looked forward to strengthening communication with PKU. He also expressed hope for deeper collaboration in scientific research, student development, and cultural and language education.

During the visit, the delegation also toured laboratories at Peking University’s Institute for Artificial Intelligence.

Representatives from relevant schools, faculties and administrative offices of PKU attended the event.
