Peking University, June 15, 2026: On June 11, Holden Thorp, editor-in-chief of the
Science family of journals, led a delegation to Peking University (PKU). They were received at Linhuxuan by Gao Song, president of PKU, and Fang Fang, vice president of PKU.
Welcoming the delegation, Gao highlighted the longstanding cooperation between PKU and the
Science family of journals, as well as the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). He expressed hope that the two sides would further strengthen exchanges on AI development, academic publications, and research addressing major global challenges.
Thorp acknowledged PKU's achievements in basic research and technological innovation. He noted that PKU scholars account for a prominent share of publications in the
Science family of journals, reflecting the university's outstanding research capacity. China's research outcomes are highly valued for their academic quality, which is the sole benchmark at
Science, according to Thorp, who also expressed expectations for deeper cooperation with PKU.
Following the meeting, Thorp and his delegation visited the Yingjie Overseas Exchange Center, where they held discussions with PKU scholars and student representatives.
Representatives from relevant schools, departments, and administrative offices of PKU attended the events.
