Peking University, May 21, 2012: The Graduate School of Peking University (PKU) and Springer Science+Business Media (Springer) agreed to launch an initiative of publishing PKU excellent doctoral dissertation. 

On May 7, Professor Chen Shiyi, Dean of the Graduate School, signed an agreement with Mr. Peter Hendriks, Chairman of Springer Science+Business Media, a world famous publisher.

According to the agreement, every year PKU will provide a list of excellent doctoral dissertation candidates and their dissertations and coordinate supervisors’ recommendations and translations etc. Meanwhile, Springer will be responsible for dissertation review and publication. Springer also promises that it will set up Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Award, and provide the free professional training for PKU graduate students in paper writing and submission.

Chen said that PKU is one of the best research-intensive universities and the doctoral dissertations are the collection of the most frontier research results of all the fields at PKU. “As a worldwide research institute, PKU will need a platform to broaden the influences of these achievements internationally, and Springer is a good partner in this regard”.

Mr. Hendriks shared Springer’s philosophy with the participants. He valued the collaboration as a useful move and believed it would expand the company’s overseas business.
