Peking University, May 23, 2012: Bert van der Zwaan, President of Utrecht University, visited Peking University (PKU) on May 18 together with his delegation. PKU President Zhou Qifeng met the delegation at Linhuxuan.

Zhou welcomed President Bert van der Zwaan and the delegation, giving thanks for the reception he had received while visiting Utrecht University a month before. He hoped that the collaboration in different domains could be enhanced by his counterpart’s return visit.
President van der Zwaan pointed out several potential cooperation projects. Recently, Utrecht University has opened up two interdisciplinary cooperation projects, named “Youth and Identity” and “Institutions of Open Society”. Utrecht University would also like to cooperate with the Health Science Center at PKU if possible.
The scholars from PKU and Utrecht University discussed the collaboration details afterwards, including student exchanges and joint researches. PKU Assistant President Li Qiang hosted the discussion.

Professor Ren Qiang, Vice Director of the Institute of Social Science Survey (PKU), introduced and showed the institute to the delegation.

Utrecht University is situated in Utrecht, the 4th largest city in Holland. Among the 13 universities in Holland, Utrecht University is the 2nd oldest (after Leiden University) and one of the top 3. With 7 departments, it now has the most comprehensive curriculum system in Holland.
