Oct 21, 2012

Peking University, Oct. 18, 2012: Professor Wang Enge, vice president and provost of Peking University (PKU), led a delegation to the United States in early October, visiting the University of Chicago, Cornell University, Columbia University, and Princeton University.

The delegation were successively received by President Robert Zimmer [of the University of Chicago], Provost Kent Fuchs [of Cornell University], Professor Kathryn B. Yatrakis [Dean of Academic Affairs, Columbia College], and Provost Christopher L. Eisgruber [of Princeton University].

The PKU administrators and staff members also visited diverse undergraduate colleges covering the study of arts, science, economics and medicine. In this process, they were impressed by the general education systems, which are expected to be adopted in PKU’s undergraduate education.

Besides undergraduate education, the delegates were also given an introduction to American public research platforms, such as the Institute for Advanced Study at Princeton, the Cornell NanoScale Science &Technology Facility, and the Center for Computational Biology and Bioinformatics at Columbia. They appraised and discussed about the advanced research and management experience.

In addition, Vice President Wang Enge held three symposiums with the local Chinese students during his visit, introducing the recent development of PKU and its policies on talent introduction. He encouraged the attendees to return to China for staff memberships at PKU after their graduation.
