The 3rd PUKU Project concludes
Oct 14, 2012

Peking University, Oct. 12, 2012: The closing ceremony of the third “Cross Culture Communication between Peking University (PKU) and Kyoto University” (PUKU) was held at PKU on September 12.

“There are three significances of PUKU,” pointed out Professor Wang Jing from the School of Foreign Languages at PKU, who served as instructor of the project, “First, we have gained such a special opportunity to experience the Sino-Japanese cultural diversity; second, transnational friendship burgeons through mutual communications; third, the project also promotes more thoughts about ourselves in the process of knowing each other.”

PUKU members had been divided into Tradition Group (on the development and protection of old quadrangles), Environment Group (on sustainable society) and Society Group (on the impacts of volunteering on children), which then launched a 20-day practical investigation in Beijing and Tokyo around their core issues. After detailed investigations into related organizations and institutions, their achievements were finally demonstrated in the exhibition stage.

Professor Wang Jing spoke highly of the students’ outstanding performances, encouraging the members of both countries to break down the barriers and contribute to the bilateral ties.
