Peking University, February 8, 2022: On a freezing Friday evening
(2022.02.04) in Beijing National Stadium, the opening ceremony for
Winter Olympics officially kicked off the winter Olympics games. This
was also a historical millstone that Winter Olympics took place in
China. Beijing, the Chinese capital, became the first city to stage both
the Summer and Winter Olympics. The spectacular Winter Olympics opening
ceremony was very stimulating for me, in terms of its content, the
participants showcased their talent with excellent performances, vibrant
and innovative lighting display primarily virtual ice cube emerged from
the stadium floor with a prominent Chinese character meaning
“Happiness” projected, and no doubt the fireworks from a marvel steel
structure of Olympics venue (Bird’s Nest Stadium).
I think it
turned out to be a great successful event, and credit obviously goes to
all Chinese organizers to put on a show with a great theme of One World,
One Family, and Together for a Shared Future.
I would like to
thank PKU’s International Faculty Club members for organizing such a
wonderful event to make all international faculty connected. I would
also like to extend my most earnest wishes to all the Athletes competing
 in Beijing Winter Olympics 2022.
