My PKU Story | Fu Jiaqi: Closing my campus chapter
Jun 27, 2024
Peking University, June 27, 2024: From 2019 to 2024, I pursued my Ph.D. studies at the College of Engineering (COE), Peking University. There is no doubt that these five years were impressive. They not only included the days and nights of personal struggle for a degree, but also condensed precious memories with the Yanyuan campus and the entire collective.

I remember being a volunteer at Tiananmen Square to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China and witnessing this great historical event.

I remember the long story of doing scientific research with my colleagues in Office 404, PKU’s Building of Mechanics.

I can still remember how, under the guidance of my supervisor, I obtained scientific results, published articles, and successfully defended my doctoral thesis.

Besides, I want to share my deep feelings about the free atmosphere on PKU’s campus, where everyone can create their own unique identity and grasp the chance to develop themselves.

For me, I enhanced cross-cultural communications in PKU News by getting involved in the writing process, which has also helped improve my academic writing.

In the PKU-COE Youth League Committee, I found my privilege in writing stories and formal documents as an engineering-oriented student. These experiences have enriched my life and provided me with the skills necessary for an independent life in the foreseeable future.

At the moment of departure, the above memories come alive together. Now, I am filled with gratitude for my alma mater and cherish the hope that one day, I can do something to make it better. Now I have to say: Farewell, Peking University! Farewell, my youth!
